3 vs 3 Streetball Tournament Rules

1. Team Composition

  • Each team consists of 3 players on the court.

  • Teams may have 1 substitute (maximum roster: 4 players).

  • A team must have at least 3 players present to start a game.

  • Players may only play on one team.

2. Game Format

  • Games are played on half court with one basket.

  • First team to 21 points wins, OR

  • Highest score after 10 minutes wins if time expires.

If the game is tied at the end of regulation:

  • First team to score 2 points in overtime wins.

3. Scoring

  • 1 point = shots inside the arc

  • 2 points = shots outside the arc

(No free throws unless stated in fouls section.)

4. Possession Rules

  • Game begins with a coin toss.

  • Ball must be checked at the top of the key before play begins.

  • After a defensive rebound or steal, the ball must be cleared beyond the 3-point arc before scoring.

  • After a made basket, the defending team takes possession and must clear the ball.

5. Fouls

  • No free throws during regulation play.

  • 6 team fouls = opposing team receives 1 point and possession.

  • 7+ team fouls = opposing team receives 2 points and possession.

  • Flagrant or unsportsmanlike conduct may result in automatic disqualification.

6. Ball Out of Bounds

  • Ball is checked at the top of the key.

  • The defender must give the offense space to start play.

7. Jump Balls

  • All jump balls go to the defensive team.

8. Substitutions

  • Substitutions are allowed only during dead balls or after a made basket.

  • Player entering must check in with the scorekeeper/referee.

9. Timeouts

  • Each team gets one 30-second timeout per game.

10. Sportsmanship

  • Trash talking, fighting, or disrespecting officials may result in:

    • Technical foul

    • Removal from game

    • Tournament disqualification
